MAY 5 - CSU TO STAGE ‘MATH FUNTASTICS II’ FOR KIDS AT PUBLIC LIBRARY
Columbus State University’s Columbus Regional Mathematics Collaborative will host “Math FUNtastics II,” from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Columbus Public Library. The program is free and designed for K-5-grade students, as math collaborative staff and local teachers will present children’s stories accompanied by fun mathematics activities designed to encourage interest in mathematics. MAY 10-14 – TOP-RANKED CSU TO HOST NCAA SOFTBALL REGIONAL AT SOUTH COMMONS
CSU will host the 2007 NCAA South Atlantic Regional for Division II softball, Thursday, May 10 through Tuesday, 14 at South Commons Stadium in Columbus. The CSU squad, with a 50-2 record, is the top-ranked team in Division II and will compete with seven other teams to be announced Monday by the NCAA. More information, including the tournament schedule and admission prices, will be posted after Monday at http://www.csucougars.com.

MAY 11 - ROTC COMMISSIONING CEREMONY
CSU’s Military Science Department will hold its annual Senior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps commissioning ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11 in the Davidson Student Center auditorium. ROTC students who are graduating this spring from CSU will be commissioned as U.S. Army second lieutenants. For more information, call the military science department at 706-568-2058.

MAY 12 – SPRING GRADUATION CEREMONIES
CSU’s spring 2007 commencement ceremonies are set for 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12 in the Lumpkin Center.

The morning exercise will recognize graduates from the College of Arts and Letters, College of Education, and University College. The speaker will be Robert F. Hatcher, president and chief executive officer of MidCountry Financial Corporation, co-chairman of the Commission for a New Georgia and member of the University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents.

College of Science and D. Abbott Turner College of Business graduates will participate in the afternoon exercise along with speaker Richard A. Smith, a CSU graduate and vice chairman of the board and president of Realogy Corp. Realogy is the world’s largest residential real estate brokerage franchisor and the largest U.S. residential real estate brokerage firm.

Seating for guests will begin at 8:30 a.m. for the morning ceremony and 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony. Heavy traffic on campus is anticipated, and shuttles will be available to transport guests from main campus parking lots. Before the ceremonies, the CSU Bookstore will sell commemorative items from the second floor lobby of the Lumpkin Center.
