Oct. 28 - FACULTY RECITAL BY CLARINETIST LISA OBERLANDER
Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music will present a faculty recital by clarinetist Lisa Oberlander at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 in the RiverCenters Legacy Hall. Oberlander has performed at International Clarinet Association conferences throughout the world. In 2005 she toured Japan with CSU faculty colleagues as a member of the Fountain City Ensemble and she recently recorded Andrew Rindfleisch's Light Fantastic with the CSU Wind Ensemble, released this summer on the Summit label. Oct. 31 - ANNOUNCEMENT MARKING CONCLUSION TO CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
University and campaign officials will detail the conclusion of CSUs An Investment in People capital campaign in a news conference at 2 p.m. Monday at the campus clock tower. More details on the event will be announced Friday.

Nov. 1 - CSU PRESIDENTS RECOGNITION BANQUET, RESERVATION DEADLINE OCT. 28
Columbus State University will stage its 34th annual Presidents Recognition Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cunningham Center. The event serves to recognize university supporters and includes the presentation of the Thomas Y. Whitley Distinguished Alumnus Award, the highest award given to a CSU graduate by the university's alumni association. Banquet tickets are $30. Nov. 3 - IT SECURITY AWARENESS WEEK PUBLIC EVENT
Columbus State University will observe national Security Awareness Week with the following series of programs, all free and open to the public, on Thursday, Nov. 3:

• Security is not Just an IT Issue will be a 12:30 p.m. keynote presentation in the Davidson auditorium by University of Georgia Chief Information Security Officer Stan Gatewood, one of the country's leading information security experts.
• A local-expert panel will discuss topics including ID theft, cyber-sex crimes and wireless security from approximately 1:45 to 4 p.m. in the Davidson auditorium.
• A demonstration, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., of the Columbus Consolidated Governments Incident Command Vehicle will showcase the primary mobile command center in case of a citywide emergency. The vehicle will be parked between the Center for Commerce and Technology and Fine Arts Hall.

Nov. 3 - CSU HONORS LECTURE: THE FAR RIGHT IN GERMANY AND EUROPE
Columbus State Universitys Honors Program, Department of History and Center for International Education will present a lecture, The Far Right In Germany and Europe, at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in CSUs International House at 6 Clearview Circle. Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music will host a Premier Series concert performance by pianist John Kimura Parker at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in the RiverCenter's Bill Heard Theatre. Nov. 3 - AFRICA CULTURAL NIGHT TO FEATURE SOUTH AFRICAN DANCE TROUPE
Columbus State University will host Africa Cultural Night, featuring a performance by Soweto Street Beat, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Cunningham Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Soweto Street Beat is a world-class dance troupe introducing audiences nationwide to the cultural arts and dance of South Africa using traditional instruments while wearing ornate headgear and bright costumes. The dance represents a melding of African contemporary, neo-African, modern African, Afro-fusion, and new traditional dance.

Under the direction of professor Paul Vander Gheynst, the award-winning ensemble offers a concert at 7:30 p.m. in the RiverCenter's Studio Theatre.

Nov. 5 - PREMIER SERIES: WHAT MAKES IT GREAT?
Columbus State Universitys Schwob School of Music will host a Premier Series concert by Rob Kapilow and Pianist John Kimura Parker at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 in the RiverCenters Bill Heard Theatre. This event will feature Parkers performance of Beethovens Appassionata Sonota and Kapilows conducting the interactive What Makes It Great? performance. Kapilow is a renowned classical music innovator and conductor of Americas top orchestras. Tickets are $20 and $10 and can be purchased by calling 256-3600. A special group rate applies for CSU students: $10/per person in groups of 10 or more.

Nov. 6 - CSU TO CELEBRATE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN WITH FIREWORKS, BAND CONCERT
Columbus State University will celebrate the success of its An Investment in People capital campaign with a free band concert and fireworks show, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 at the T. Y. Whitley Clock Tower. The public is invited to bring chairs, blankets and a picnic. The concert will feature the CSU Wind Symphony and Wind Orchestra conducted by Professor Robert Rumbelow and guest conductor, Col. Hal J.
