SEPT. 21 - COLLEGE DEMOCRATS TO HOST CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE
The CSU College Democrats will host Democratic congressional candidate Mike McGraw, who will speak to students at 12:30 p.m. in the Davidson Student Center auditorium. McGraw, of Newnan, is challenging Republican Congressman Lynn Westmoreland to represent Georgias new Third District in the U.S. House of Representatives. SEPT. 21 - CSU WIND ORCHESTRA TO PERFORM
The CSU Wind Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday the RiverCenters Legacy Hall. The concert will feature Carl Orffs Carmina Burana and David Maslanka's Give Us This Day. General admission is $5 and free for faculty, staff and students with CSU ID. Tickets are available at the RiverCenter Box Office, call 706-256-3612.

SEPT. 26 - IT TRAINING SERIES BEGINS FOR AREA TEACHERS
Columbus State University will launch its CSTA Academy on Tuesday with Teacher Engagement for Computer Science, a 9 a.m.-4 p.m. workshop in the Cunningham Center for Leadership Development. Directed by CSU computer science professors, this program will provide an introductory, but high-level overview of training modules with attention to educating others in computer science education.

West-central Georgia high school computer science and business education teachers, each with a selected student, will participate in this first of four workshops, developed by CSUs TSYS Department of Computer Science and the Center for Quality Teaching Learning. SEPT. 26 & 28 - CSU LIBRARIES TO STAGE BANNED BOOKS READ-OUT
In observance of the American Library Associations Banned Books Week, CSU Libraries will stage a Banned Books Read Out in a pair of 12:30-1:30 p.m. sessions, on Tuesday and on Thursday, Sept. 28 in front of the Schwob library. CSU faculty members will read passages from books that have been heavily targeted for censorship. The programs are free and open to the public. SEPT. 27 - AUTHOR, TV HOST CHAD FOSTER TO ADDRESS LOCAL EIGHTH-GRADERS, TEACHERS
About 800 Muscogee County eighth-graders will gather in the Fine Arts Hall auditorium on Wednesday for a 9:30-11:30 a.m. presentation by author and motivational speaker Chad Foster. The lecture is based on Fosters best-selling book Teenagers Preparing for the Real World. A separate, 3:30-5 p.m. program for Muscogee County high school teachers, High School 101, will address engagement and drop-out prevention and be delivered by Foster and CSU education professor Mike Hall in the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center. Foster, 33, has hosted of ESPN 2s Fly Fishing America, and is nationally recognized for his outreach to students, stressing education and preparation as essential in the world of work.

SEPT. 27 - SALES DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE TARGETS LOCAL PROFESSIONALS
The Cunningham Center for Leadership Development at Columbus State University will host a sales development conference on Winning Sales Teams, Building Customer Relationships, Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 27-28. An opening pre-conference on Sept. 27 targets sales managers and sales team leaders, followed by a full day for all sales professionals. The keynote speaker is Steve Sullivan, an internationally recognized sales expert and author.
