CSU Hosts Honor Bands of Georgia; Concert Set
January 12, 2007
COLUMBUS, Ga.- Columbus State Universitys Schwob School of Music will host an inaugural CSU Honor Bands of Georgia Clinic, Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20 at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. A closing-night concert, open to the public, will feature the participating musicians.
CSU conceived this event to promote music education while honoring Georgias finest high school bands.
Selected by a respected out-of-state panel, the participating bands are the Brookwood High School Symphonic Winds, the North Cobb High School Wind Symphony and the Starrs Mill High School Wind Ensemble.
The clinic is non-competitive and designed as an intense and advanced educational reward.
CSU music faculty, including Professor Robert Rumbelow and Assistant Professor Joseph David, will direct the clinics and a masterclass, and give a demonstration performance to close the first evening.
The second evening will close at 5:30 p.m. with performances by each band, followed by the CSU Wind Ensemble. This program will include an awards ceremony and is free and open to the public.
