CSU Professor Featured in Book

Columbus State University Co-Director of Uteach Columbus, and professor of Earth and Space Sciences Kimberly Shaw is featured in a book about teaching and learning in higher education by former CSU faculty member Josh Eyler entitled, How Humans Learn: The Science and Stories behind Effective College Teaching.

The book uses research in fields like anthropology, biology, developmental psychology, and cognitive neuroscience to understand why specific teaching strategies work better than others. Eyler based parts of his research on observations and interviews with Shaw in 2016, which are featured in the book.

Shaw, a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Florida State University, is a professor of Physics at CSU and was named Georgia's Professor of the year in 2015 by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
