CSU Student Singers Place in Auditions at National Competition

Thirteen Columbus State University Schwob School of Music students recently participated and placed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Audition at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.

Every year NATS holds auditions where regional singers perform and receive written feedback about their performances. This year's CSU winners were:

" Kelyn Hammonds, 1st Place, 4th/5th Year College Musical Theatre Women

" Thai Johnson, 1st Place, 4th/5th Year College Men

" Mary Lee Turner, 1st Place, 3rd Year College Women

" Keyla Nunez, 1st Place, Second Year College Women

" Aurora "Rory" Manley, 1st Place, First Year College Women

" Travis Hall , 2nd Place, Advanced Men

" Lar'Kara Betha, 2nd Place, Third Year College Women

" Gavin Gourley, 2nd Place, First Year College Men

" Hunter Mullen, 2nd Place, First Year College Men

" Daisha Jackson, 2nd Place, Category 7A-1, First Year College Women

NATS was founded in 1944, and is considered the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world with 7,000 members in the United States, Canada and 30 other countries. Their goal is to encourage the highest standards of the vocal arts in the teaching of singing, and to promote vocal education for the general public and for the advancement of singers internationally. NATS Student Competition is designed to nurture singers at various levels of vocal study.
