Dr. Rachel Blackburn, Assistant Professor of Theatre, recently authored two entries for an American political humor encyclopedia available through ABC-CLIO, titled American Political Humor: Masters of Satire and Their Impact on U.S. Policy and Culture. The entries are regarding Trevor Noah and Key & Peele.

“What's really wonderful about this new text is that is recognizes and upholds a lot of what my own work and research has been about - that comedians are truly public intellectuals who not only comment on the public discourse, but shape the public discourse,” states Dr. Blackburn. “As such, when I was asked by the editor of Masters who I wanted to write about, I called dibs on Trevor Noah and Key & Peele because I believe their work has been really important in the Obama and current post-Obama times, helping us understand the world around us and finding ways to laugh about it, too.”
