CSU To Celebrate Capital Campaign Success

October 25, 2005

CSU will celebrate the success of its An Investment in People capital campaign with a free band concert and fireworks show, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 at the T.Y. Whitley Clock Tower.

CSU invites faculty, staff and community supporters to bring chairs, blankets and a picnic.

The concert will feature the CSU Wind Symphony and Wind Orchestra conducted by Professor Robert Rumbelow, Ph.D., and guest conductor, retired Army Col. Hal J. Gibson, a Schwob School of Music benefactor and patriarch of CSUs band program.

Publicly launched in fall 2002, CSUs capital campaign sought to raise at least $85 million to establish a learning environment more advanced than at any institution of similar size.

In announcing the end of the campaign, CSU gratefully acknowledges, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who have made gifts and pledges totaling more than $90 million -- more private money than has been raised in any other previous campaign in the history of Columbus and the region.

This campaign is having a transforming effect on the university as funding has been provided for state-of-the-art facilities; numerous student scholarships and endowed faculty chairs; library acquisitions; campus enhancements and other exciting initiatives.

The Nov. 6 event will celebrate the phenomenal success of this campaign and recognize and acknowledge the transforming power private support is having on Columbus State University. For more information about the campaign, visit http://www.colstate.edu/campaign/.
