CSU to Host Disability Mentoring Day
October 24, 2019

"We are so excited to have Amerigroup partner with us once again on this annual event,” said Johnnae Roberts, Student Development Coordinator at CSU. “Events like this will allow students to see themselves represented in a number of ways and we are happy to have a part in that."
During the event, Amerigroup representatives will share stories around their own professional challenges and successes to help inspire students to stay focused on their goals and advancement of their career. Guest speakers at the event will include Sherpi Giles of Emory St. Francis Hospital, Sally Baker of the Springer Opera House, and Mario Davis of the YMCA of Columbus. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network and pursue mentoring opportunities.
Amerigroup Georgia, a statewide provider of Medicaid managed care services, is in its sixth year of holding disability mentoring day events. This year, they are partnering with five colleges across the state. Supportive research shows students who engage in a program, such as the one offered by Amerigroup Georgia, doubled the rate of employment over their peers who only completed high school and consistently have higher earnings over time.
