Geography, Physics Faculty Publish Research on Female Peer Mentoring

COLUMBUS, Ga.Two Columbus State University faculty members have published their interdisciplinary research in the May 2014 issue of The Journal of Faculty Development.

AmandaRees_Shaw Rees, an associate professor of geography, and Kim Shaw, a professor of physics, are co-authors of “Peer Mentoring Communities of Practice for Early and Mid-Career Faculty: Broad Benefits from a Research- Oriented Female Peer Mentoring Group.”

Rees and Shaw conclude the study has important implications for faculty development facilitators. Rees said the article has already been adopted as part of the reading for an Association of American Geographers’ Department Leadership Workshop this summer at the University of Connecticut.
