More Than 500 Expected at Commencement Saturday

More than 500 candidates for graduation are expected to participate in the Columbus State University spring 2005 graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14 in the Lumpkin Center.

Because of the big crowd, each graduation candidate was allotted six tickets. Seating for guests with tickets will begin at 8:30 a.m. The doors will open for general seating at 9:45 a.m. CSU will provide shuttle service from parking lots campuswide.

During the ceremony, CSU will award an honorary doctorate of humane letters to Thomas B. Black, an administrator for the Bradley-Turner Foundation of Columbus. The commencement speaker will be Robert Wright, chairman emeritus and adviser for Dimensions International, Inc., an information technology and engineering services firm headquartered in Alexandria, Va. Wright, who founded Dimensions International, formerly practiced optometry and small-business consulting, and served as city councilor in Columbus his hometown. The annual CSU Senior Art Show reception in the Fine Arts Hall Gallery will immediately follow Saturdays 10 a.m. graduation ceremony. The reception is free and open to the public. For more information, call 568-2047.
