Political Science Professor Authors Book on Pearl Harbor

Masako Okura, associate professor of political science at Columbus State University, co-authored a new book featuring previously unreleased information about a Japanese special envoy that caused strained diplomatic relations between Japan and America just before the outbreak of WWII. The book is titled “The Desperate Diplomat: Saburo Kurusu’s Memoir of the Weeks Before Pearl Harbor.”

Okura received two grants from CSU to conduct archival research in Japan for this book. “The Desperate Diplomat” is available now from University of Missouri Press.
