Professors of Chemistry Develop Money-Saving Electrolysis Cell
April 28, 2015
Samuel Abegaz and Rajeev Dabke, associate professors of chemistry at Columbus State
University, have developed a new electrolysis cell that will reduce the amount of
time and money required to prepare reagents, or mixtures commonly used for chemical
analysis, in undergraduate labs. Their cell eliminates the need for expensive coulometers
and constant current power supplies. The professors’ work was published in the American
Chemical Society’s Journal of Chemical Education, available online at http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/ed5001763 and http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/ed5008348.###
