Students Documentaries Get Broadcasted
January 14, 2015
Students in CSU's Department of Communication recently made local news as their documentary
work was broadcast in a series of telecasts on WTVM Channel 9. Each of the four documentaries
was the students’ final project work in Chris Robinson’s COMM 4257: Video Production
II course. Included in the documentaries were profiles on Communication Professor
Vernon Humphrey, the Buffalo Soldiers, a profile piece on the local Boys and Girls
Club chapter, and a profile on Brown Bag
. After screening the projects, WTVM’s staff inquired about airing each of the shorts during the winter break. A relatively unprecedented opportunity for most college students, the opportunity reflects an ongoing partnership between the Department of Communication and local media entities to create opportunities for its students to build professional experience while studying.
