SunTrust Foundation Contributes to Help CSU Students Become More Financially Wise

COLUMBUS, Ga. --- SunTrust Foundation is making an investment in the financial future of Columbus State University students.The contribution from the SunTrust Foundation will benefit the Financial Success program at CSU’s Center for Career Development by helping the department provide innovative programs to support and inform Columbus State University students and alumni about making sound financial decisions.
“This contribution will not only help us with our education efforts, but it is a fantastic validation of what we are trying to accomplish at the center,” said Lyn Riggsby-Gonzalez, director of CSU’s Center for Career Development.
The center’s Financial Success program relies on collaborations with financial institutions to accurately and effectively provide and disseminate a wide variety of financial literacy information, tools and resources in hopes of financially empowering Columbus State University students and alumni as they pursue academic, personal and career-related goals, Riggsby-Gonzalez said.
“SunTrust Foundation is proud to partner with CSU’s Center for Career Development to provide the resources needed to benefit their Financial Success program,” said Gene Perkins, president of SunTrust Bank, West Georgia. “Promoting financial literacy is our goal; it is who we are as a company, and we strongly believe that helping the next generation make wise financial decisions that can positively impact their future not only helps them personally, but ultimately is the cornerstone to a vibrant community and economy.”
CSU’s Financial Success program offers a variety of resources, classes and events, such as a life-size game of Monopoly, and a student organization called Cougar$ Count. For more information, go to https://career.columbusstate.edu.
