Three CSU Professors Published in Chemistry Journal

Three Columbus State University professors and their undergraduate assistants recently published research in the Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry. Chemistry faculty Kerri Taylor and Jonathan Meyers collaborated with Biology professor Monica Frazier to synthesize and test a series of compounds with potential anti-cancer activity.

The publication, "Synthesis and Anti‐proliferative Activity of N,N′‐bis‐substituted 1,2,4‐Triazolium Salts against Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer Cell Lines" details efforts to create an active anti-tumor drug with improved water solubility. The work was funded by CSU University and SRACE grants. The team's goal is to identify new chemotherapy drugs that will dissolve more readily in the blood. Building upon their initial success, they are currently working on phase two of their collaboration.
