Professor Liu Receives Visiting Professor Grant in Social Media
Juan Liu, communication professor at Columbus State University, has been selected to receive the 2019-2020 Scripps Howard Foundation Visiting Professor Grants in Social Media administered by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
As a participant in the program, Liu will visit WEWS TV in Cleveland, Ohio, for two weeks. She also plans to invite media professionals of WEWS to visit CSU in the coming fall or spring semester.
Administered by AEJMC, the Scripps Howard Foundation Visiting Professors in Social Media Program funds two-week summer opportunities for AEJMC members to "work" at various media outlets and learn how social media are transforming information delivery. The program also funds a second phase when media outlet reps visit professors' campuses. In the eight years the Foundation has funded this program, 45 AEJMC members have been selected to work at 20 media outlets across the United States.
The AEJMC is a nonprofit organization of more than 3,700 educators, students and practitioners from around the globe. Founded in 1912, by Willard Grosvenor Bleyer, the first president (1912-13) of the American Association of Teachers of Journalism, as it was then known, AEJMC is the oldest and largest alliance of journalism and mass communication educators and administrators at the college level.
