Second Workshop Scheduled to Prepare CSU Students for Business Plan Competition
COLUMBUS, Ga. — Columbus State University students who harbor dreams of starting a business will get a second chance in March to polish their plans for the future.
The March 14 workshop will prepare students to participate in the third annual Business Plan Competition organized by CSU ’s Turner College of Business, which will culminate with the announcement of winners in April. The competition recognizes business plans submitted by college and high school students, offering $10,000 in cash prizes. The goal of this competition is to promote entrepreneurship.
“We’re very excited about the third annual competition,” said Kirk Heriot, CSU's Ray and Evelyn Crowley Chair of Entrepreneurship in the Turner college’s Department of Management and Marketing. “The first two years went well, and we are looking forward to better business plans being submitted by our students.”
To prepare CSU students for the competition, the Turner College of Business will host a second business plan workshop on March 14, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. in the Center for Commerce and Technology, room 305.
All plans are reviewed by members of CSU’s Turner College of Business faculty and local small business owners, who choose plans to submit to the next round of competition. Once selected, finalists are given an opportunity to present their plans to a judging panel of faculty and business owners.
The college-level competition has a grand prize of $5,000. It's open to any student enrolled at CSU during the 2012-2013 academic year, including students who graduated in December. Business plans must be submitted electronically to Heriot at heriot_kirk@ColumbusState.edu by April 2, 2013.
