CSU Closed Monday and Tuesday Because of Hurricane Irma

In anticipation of severe weather because of Hurricane Irma, Columbus State University will be closed on Monday, Sept. 11 and Tuesday, Sept. 12. All normal business operations, including campus shuttle services, will cease as of 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Emergency services remain available. Anyone needing assistance should call CSU Police at (706) 507-8911. Campus officials will continue to monitor and assess the situation to make a determination about operations and services for Wednesday, Sept. 13. Any additional closures will be communicated through CougarAlert as soon as possible.

Additional information about services for on-campus residential students is being disseminated by Residence Life.

CSU Police encourages everyone to develop their personal safety plans for severe weather immediately. Additional notifications may be issued by CougarAlert, but all campus community members are encouraged to be mindful of the Muscogee County outdoor emergency weather sirens. Please use reliable state and local resources for information about weather and emergency situations in your area, and make decisions for your own safety based on the best information you have available.

Classes Continue at CSU

Classes and normal business operations will go on Friday as scheduled. However, faculty, staff and students are advised to not risk any dangerous conditions to get to school. Use good judgment. Supervisors and faculty are aware that some people will have unique situations following the storms Thursday night.

CSU To Close Until Monday

COLUMBUS — Due to impending severe weather, Columbus State University will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

The university will officially close after evening classes conclude Wednesday, Sept. 15. CSU will resume classes and a normal schedule on Monday morning, Sept. 20.

All classes and regular business operations are suspended for Thursday, Friday and during the weekend. However, Justice Administration Outreach program classes WILL meet on Saturday as scheduled.

Were taking this step as a precaution to do whatever we can to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff, said CSU President Frank Brown.

CSU Closed Until Night Classes Begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday

Due to severe weather, Columbus State University will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 7 until night classes begin at 4 p.m.

All students with classes that begin at 4 p.m. or later are expected to attend classes Tuesday. Staff and faculty teaching or supporting night classes are also expected to report to work by 4 p.m.

Except for night classes, normal business operations for the university will be suspended until Wednesday morning, as conditions permit.

Weather Impacts CSU Operations

Snow in the Columbus region prompted Columbus State University officials to close the campus Wednesday Jan. 2, and delay the opening of campus on Thursday (1/3) until 10 a.m.

New student orientation is scheduled to begin Thursday at 10 a.m. and returning student orientation is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.

In the College of Education, student-teacher orientation and graduate orientation have been postponed until further notice.
