The Saber Wins Pacemaker Award
Columbus State University’s collegiate student newspaper, The Saber, recently received its second Associated College Press Pacemaker Award. The Pacemaker is a highly prestigious award, considered by some as the university-equivalent of a Pulitzer Prize.
The Saber staff were recognized at the online Associated Collegiate Press Convention as the winner of the four-year college category for their March 2020 issue. CSU students Jane Thornton and Luka Steele also received honorable mention in the Cartoon of the Year category for four-year colleges.
The Saber won its first Pacemaker in 2018, and was recognized as a finalist in 2019.
The Pacemaker judges university newspapers on merit demonstrating excellence in specific areas, which include coverage, writing, editing, design, and photography. For more information, visit https://studentpress.org/acp/awards-2/.
