Tragic Comedy to be Staged at Theatre on the Park
COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Columbus State University’s Department of Theatre will stage Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s tragic comedy “The Visit” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 15-17, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at CSU's Theatre on the Park in downtown Columbus.
In the play, residents of a decaying fictitious European town await the homecoming and potential generosity of a millionaire hometown girl, Claire Zachanassian, whose wealth could revive the town’s economy. Unfortunately, the wealthy visitor apparently has another, possibly corrupt motive.
The production, adapted and directed by CSU theatre professor Kate Musgrove, features a cast of 31 student actors. Caroline Thrasher, left, portrays Zachanassian.
Tickets for the show are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors, children, active military and CSU alumni. CSU students, faculty and staff are admitted free with CSU ID. Hours for the theatre’s box office at the corner of 10th Street and Bay Avenue are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays and one hour before curtain.
Season tickets also are available. To order by phone or for more information, call 706-507-8444 or go to http://theatre.colstate.edu/tickets.htm.
