UITS Strategic Plan and Alignment Announcement

UITS in a continuing effort to improve customer service and offer highest quality technology wishes to announce some recent updates and changes. UITS’ strategic plan was updated and completed for the next three years with input from our UITS staff, college deans, Information Technology Utilization Committee, and SGA representatives. The updated strategic plan will direct UITS as it looks at bringing the next “cool” technology to students and the campus. The updated strategic plan and goals are posted on the UITS website under the About Us section.

In support of the strategic plan, UITS is looking at organizational alignment for better management of resources, budgets, and effectiveness. Jay Knape, who previously was manager of our university Web Team, has been appointed as Project Management Officer reporting directly to Abraham George, CIO. In Jay’s new position he will be charged with keeping all UITS projects on track and efficiently assuring their timely completion through implementation of project manage methodology throughout the department.

The Web Team will now report to Rick Tew, Director of Enterprise Software. The Web Team now resides in CCT 105 with the other programming staff within Enterprise Software which makes cross training and redundant support more practicable. A new Manager of Web Services will be hired as soon as possible.

UITS has hired a Student Technology Ambassador, Robyn Hall. Her primary responsibility will be to advertise and promote to other students what the CSU Technology Fee covers on campus. Robyn will show students how to navigate the web sites to get to Atomic Learning, the software available to students, Helpdesk hours of operation, and gather student feedback on software and projects. She will reach out to faculty members to attend some class sessions to give explanation of our services.

Shanttell Gray is our new Help Desk Analyst. She brings a wide array of experience and Mac knowledge to CSU. She will be at the main campus Help Desk along with supporting the River Park campus. Her expertise will benefit the Arts department with their Mac systems along with supporting Antonio Lawson with faculty and staff support.

UITS is very excited with these new services we can offer to the university community.
