Women's Soccer Team Wins Conference Sportsmanship Award

AUGUSTA, GA - Columbus State was named the Peach Belt Conference Team Sportsmanship Award winner for women's soccer Tuesday.

The awards program, new this year, recognizes one team from each of the league's 12 championship sports with participants that best exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship and conduct themselves with a high degree of integrity, character, and class. Teams that compete in each sport choose the team that wins the award.

Points are awarded according to how each team finishes in voting and, in June, the institution with the highest totals receives the PBC Institution of the Year Sportmanship Award. CSU captured its fourth straight Peach Belt regular season championship in 2008 with a 7-0-1 conference record, also winning the PBC Tournament title for the third straight year. The Lady Cougars advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second straight year before falling to undefeated Rollins.
