January 25, 2022

In the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings released on Jan. 25, Columbus State University remains among top-ranked public and regional universities in the South on the publication’s list of “Best Online Programs.” In addition to the strength of its overall online education programs, the university’s business and education online programs were among those specifically cited by U.S. News.
“In the age of more online learning than ever before, Columbus State is making itself known as a leader in the online sphere,” President Chris Markwood said. “The flexibility, affordability and excellence offered from a CSU online degree is recognized as top-notch by our community partners, and we’re pleased to see it honored nationally, as well.”
CSU’s master of business administration program climbed 50 spots compared to its 2021 ranking for Online Master of Business Administration Program Overall—ranking it 76th nationally. CSU is also 146th on the list of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Business. The D. Abbott Turner College of Business offers nine graduate programs, 12 undergraduate programs, and numerous certifications. The business programs are accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
CSU was among Best Online Master’s Education Program Overall in ranking among the 248-322 cohort nationally. The College of Education and Health Professions program equips Georgia teachers with the training and certifications necessary to advance in their careers.
CSU ranked no. 269 in Best Online Bachelor’s Program Overall among top public regional universities in the South. The ranking looks at factors including tuition costs, graduation rates and faculty resources. Rankings in these areas are based on two types of data: Expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research and students.
Since 2013, the report has recognized online programs using four categories: engagement, service and technologies, faculty credentials and training, and expert opinions from academic officials.
An annual study by the University System of Georgia revealed in July 2021 that the university’s 2020 graduates are predicted to earn on average $820,594 more over the course of their careers as a result of their CSU degree. Those who remain in Georgia to work can expect lifetime earnings of $4.8 million—of which $1.5 million can be directly attributed to their CSU degree.
Columbus State’s online program, CSU Online, supports distance learners by offering 39 flexible and convenient degree programs. CSU Online is an approved institution by the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, a council that works to oversee postsecondary distance education.
